BIM allows us to create and manipulate our installations in a virtual world, showing how they integrate with all other elements of the built environment so our clients and stakeholders can visualise exactly how something will look and operate. It enables us to work with other designers more effectively sharing common data and making sure our designs are properly co-ordinated. We also use BIM collaboratively with our construction partners to better understand methodology, sequence and staging. We use it for planning work in critical access windows such as engineering hours or possessions. BIM helps us to brief our site staff so they are better prepared and safer.

We work with a variety of modelling tools such as Bentley Microstation Aecosim and Autodesk Revit to suit client needs. We are experienced in using BIM hosting environments such as Projectwise, Autodesk Navisworks, Share Point, ASite, Business Collaborator, 4Projects, Aconex to name but a few.

When we develop BIM strategy we look at how each feature will add value to the project’s challenges and objectives. We work with the client and other participating designers to create a modelling environment that suits everyone, providing the right access, data security, efficiency and outputs. We apply the principles of BS1192 and BS11000.

We are committed to BIM as a means of generating value for rail infrastructure projects. We want to use BIM innovatively and actively look for ways to do this on each project. Our technical Director leads this journey attending industry forums and participating in initiatives to ensure BIM is given the highest profile in the business.
