On the 24th of July 2019 we welcomed 7 A-level students to an engineering taster day. In the afternoon the students visited the tunnel construction in progress at Bank Station Capacity Upgrade project to view first-hand the world class engineering.

Our aim was to inspire young people to take up engineering and also help the Project's commitment to leave a lasting legacy for the industry and the UK.

The day included three talks on the role of telecomms, electrical and mechanical engineers in station projects. This was followed by an interactive session where the students worked together, representing different disciplines to solve a design conundrum. They presented their solutions to the group while also instructing one of our 3D modellers to ratify the change in the digital design environment.

After lunch the students visited Bank Station Capacity Upgrade project where they were given a project induction and careers talk by Dragados SA UK & Ireland operations director Stephen Holmes and London Underground's Bank CUP programme director, Andy Swift.

Future Engineering taster days are planned to take place during the Summer and Christmas holidays.
